In a chaotic London maternity ward, Ed and Lisa are having another baby. Scarred by the difficult birth of their first child, they are determined to do things differently, using a strange new procedure which could prove to be just as damaging.

Ed has been fitted with an artificial womb and inseminated. Labour is induced. And in the course of one unexpectedly painful evening, Ed and Lisa endure a unique togetherness in the pursuit of a ridiculous dream.

BIRTHDAY stars Stephen Mangan, Anna Maxwell Martin, Louise Brealey and Llewella Gideon. It was written by Joe Penhall, from his original stage play, and directed by Roger Michell.
